New Release: Ryan Sheridan – Fine Wine

Ryan Sheridan released his new single Fine Wine ahead of his first gig in two years, reaching number one in the iTunes chart ahead of Ed Sheeran and Dermot Kennedy.

Originally venturing into music as a busker, this release follows Ryan’s success so far with two acclaimed albums The Day You Live Forever and Here and Now. Now one of Ireland’s most popular performers, Ryan has taken this single in a new direction, with an Americana country tinge to Fine Wine, a direction he intends to take with his anticipated third album due for release in 2022.

Two years without live music has given Ryan the opportunity to spend time writing and recording in his home studio. He has found himself, during this time, delving deeper into his love for American songwriters like Chris Stapleton, The Black Keys, and Nathaniel Rateliff. His new album, he says, is a love letter to these greats.

About his new song Fine Wine, Ryan says Fine Wine is about the people that make your life better. The people who pick you up when you’re down, listen to you when you need to talk, and tell you some hard truths when you need to listen.

Fine Wine is a comforting song, slow-paced and Ryan’s vocals have a reassuring tone. The music is simplistic, twanging guitar over smooth bass, and rhythmic percussion. He has captured the country tinge expertly between the pacing and the storytelling lyrics. It’s unsurprising that this single has been popular and I’m excited to hear Ryan’s upcoming album, which is to include a collection of covers of the genre.

You can follow Ryan on Facebook, Intsagram, and Spotify to keep up to date with his future releases.
