Plastic Cowboys, an Indie Rock duo based in Dublin, release Clichéd Ciggy Smoker, following the success of their debut EP Splinter which garnered over 55 thousand streams on Spotify and featured on several editorial playlists.
Ciaran McGann, Vocalist and Guitar, explains “Clichéd Ciggy Smoker is about my feelings toward incel culture and the delusion, misogyny and hypocrisy that can be found within it.” With Darren McCarthy on Bass and mixed in Wavefarm Productions with Kevin Brennan, most of the single was recorded in the pairs home studio, set up during Covid with drums added later at Daylight Studios when restrictions were eased.
This is a soothing yet punchy tune with a real message behind it, a commentary on a culture built on self-victim hood fuelled by the notion that women’s purpose in life is to be a commodity for men. Showcasing Punk Rock and Indie vibes, I feel this is a mellow single that once heard will become a fast favourite for many.
I’m excited to hear more from Plastic Cowboys. If you’d like to hear more of what they have to offer you can find them on Instagram and Spotify.
